Today we are getting to know the security guards who diligently guard the residents of Sunfield Home. Tyrone Lambert is 24 years old and comes from a family of six. He also has a little girl of one. Tyrone works for a security company, Crime Force, which Sunfield Home Wellington uses as a service provider. He completed his training in Franschhoek and sees himself as a quiet, yet friendly colleague.
Tyrone first worked in Paarl before he was transferred to Sunfield Home and enjoys the contact with the visitors which he describes as always being friendly and considerate. He also values the residents who comes to greet him ever so often and their positive, happy attitudes. It is here that he learned that people with disabilities are no different to others and that they deserve to be treated with the same manner of respect than anyone else.
Tyrone enjoys a gourmet burger now and then and loves fruit juice, he is also a great fan of action films and his hobby is drawing. His sketches reflect what inspires him in life. Below a sketch of his daughter.
Lionel Herandien decided to further his studies in education in Cape Town after he completed his schooling and also worked as an educator in Mitchell’s Plain and Manenberg. Thereafter he worked in the marketing industry at a furniture concern and is currently busy with his VIP – Very Important People’s protection at Sunfield Home! Lionel has two daughters, the eldest a receptionist/buyer at a local engineering firm and his youngest is still at school.
He enjoys his rapport with the visitors, parents and family at Sunfield Home and describes the residents as wonderful, spontaneous people who can be very inquisitive. Lionel finds it interesting listening to their intelligent conversations and believes that one needs to respect their thinking and views on life. There is a place in the sun for each of them.
